1956 Topps Baseball Pin Coin Pinback Gene Conley Milwaukee Braves NEAR MINT
One of Topps first specialty issues, the 60-pin set of ballplayers issued in 1956 contains a high percentage of big name stars which, combined with the scarcity of the pins, makes collecting a complete set extremely challenging. Compounding the situation is the fact that some pins are seen far less often than others, though the reason is unknown. Chuck Stobbs, Hector Lopez and Chuck Diering are
unaccountably scarce. Measuring 1-1/8" in diameter, the pins utilize the same portraits found on 1956 Topps baseball cards. The photos are set against a solid color background. The pins were sold in a box picturing the Ted Williams pin, with a piece of bubblegum for five cents.
