    Description

The summer of 1977. It seemed as though every night on the South Side was the Fourth of July. The White Sox really lit up the sky with a club record 192 home runs, earning them the nickname :South Side Hit Men:. The fireworks technician really earned his money that year. And the fans really had a ball. This was the year they first began singing the "Na, Na, Hey Hey" chant that has become a Comiskey Park hallmark.
The club was led by Oscar Gamble, Richie Zisk,  and Eric Soderholm. As late as August, they were in first place with a five game cushion. They ended up in third place. But, oh, how they could massacre that ball! And the sparks sure did fly!
