    Description

Great Highland Bagpipes by C.E. Kron (Charley Kron) in excellent condition, for sale by original owner, purchased new in May 2001. African Blackwood with silver ferrules, imitation ivory projecting mounts. Nice tone, no cracks. Blowpipe stock has marking from alignment tape, blowpipe has small chip in projecting mount, bass drone car has tiny chips that might be noticed by giants.
    Bagpipes always kept in a smoke-free, pet-free, climate-controlled home
. Selling to make room for engraved pipes I was given as a present!
(I'm only allowed to have seven sets of GHBs at a time. Oh, the humanity...)
Included with sticks/drones: very short blowpipe - was professional cut down for me: 4.25" long
NOT INCLUDED: cords, chanter, bag, (I removed the old Gortex bag the best I could, but lacked the strength to get it all off - my apologies)
    UNKNOWN MODEL
: these MAY be Heritage. I sent photos to Jim McGillivray and he said they looked like Heritage.
An interested buyer suggested, “If you have a way to measure the inside of the middle bass drone bore ...Kron standard bass middle small bore is 0.422″, shy of the Heritage’s 0.438″…”. I'm presuming he got those measurements from bore sizes supplied by other pipers on Andrew Lenz's website. Jim McGillivray does not have the exact measurements.
As I did not have the tools to measure with such precision, I asked for advice: someone suggested, "7/16" is 0.4375". If you have a 7/16" drill bit and if it fits in, it'll be Heritage. If it doesn't, it'll be Standard."
I am able to partly insert a 7/16" wood drill bit (see photos), but don't want to push it too far to risk damaging the bore interior. I do not know if this means it "fits."
Alas, both I and the pipe dealer (The Piper's Hut in Ohio) have lost the original invoices. When I ordered them from the Piper's Hut, I was TOLD that these were a new model based on Jim McGillivray's 1912 Hendersons. Again, this is what I was TOLD. My apologies for not being 100% certain. But I really enjoyed playing these pipes.
From C.E. Kron website: "CE Kron & Co. was founded in 1987, and began making bagpipes at Dobbs Ferry in 1988 under the name Kilgour & Kron. ... Dave Atherton came to work [in 1995]. ... We use a combination of old world tradition and cutting edge craftsmanship. " Interview with Charley: http://www.cekron.com/interview.htm
Buyer pays for shipping (weight of pipes about 5lb). SHIPPING FROM LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, U.S.A.
Also selling Dunbar Delrin bagpipes in a separate auction - can combine shipping for both sets.
    Thank you and Happy Piping!
