The IBM 3996 Optical Library is a large-scale, externally attached device that uses 5.25-inch 30 GB Ultra Density Optical (UDO) technology. The 3996 attaches to the IBM System i™ and IBM System p™ of workstations and servers.
The 3996 Model 032 has the capability of holding up to 32 optical discs with a total storage capacity of up to 960 GB. The Model 032 has one 30 GB optical disc drive and an option for adding a second drive.
