Description
Flask (the reverse of "flask", from German. Flasche through Polish. Flaszka) is a flat or oval bottle, usually metal with a screw cap. In some cases, the plug is supplied with a nipple that allows you to drink from it without opening the plug. For example, the plug from the GP-7 gas mask kit allows you to drink from a standard army flask through a tube without removing the gas mask.Flasks are often supplied with a cloth cover or carrying strap. (A case moistened with water allows the flask to cool somewhat.) Wooden flasks were made for the Wehrmacht soldiers in North Africa, who often received two at a time.
The Russian Imperial Army used individual flasks made of steel (tin) or glass in accordance with special requirements approved by orders. In 1802, tin containers for carrying water were called water flasks and were worn tied to cylindrical knapsacks.

In the Russian Armed Forces (and before that - the USSR), individual flasks are used for drinking in the field and belong to the property of the food service.
