In the USSR, there was an unusual type of canned food that did not go on sale. Among them, the most striking was canned drinking water. A can weighing 240 grams with a shelf life of two years, of which there were several varieties. On one of the options for tin packaging, you can see instructions from which you can understand when and under what circumstances canned drinking water can be consumed internally. It turned out that this water in the days of the USSR was intended for sailors of ships in distress on the high seas, being one of the elements of dry rations for lifeboats.
The most interesting thing is that such canned water, except for the USSR, did not exist in any other country in the world. This is not surprising, the Soviet Union was actually one big military camp. During hostilities, whether it was a conventional war or a nuclear conflict, canned food should have become the main type of food for the population and the army. They are stored for a long time, are practically not affected by toxic substances, they do not need to be prepared and are conveniently transported.
